My Dream Home (in chipboard)

Outside of my "house"

Detail shot of my chandalier
Here is the third altered chipboard house I have created for In My Vintage Room Yahoo group's bi-monthly house swap. This theme was DREAM HOUSE, and I scoured the few Better Homes & Gardens magazines that I recently purchased for some great rooms to collage into my piece. It was tough to find images the right size to work with, but I think I was able to convey the jist of my image of a dream home. Something bright, colorful, cheery, warm, inviting, and spacious. Jeff and I are currently trying to redecorate our house, and after a fresh coat of paint and some trips to antique shows we are well on our way to revamping the ambiance of our home. Some day I will be done with school, married, and working on starting a family to fill a house that I hope will be my dream home...till then, I'll settle for my little chipboard version.

My Favorite Place Chipboard House Swap

"My Favorite Place" Chipboard House Outside

"My Favorite Place" Chipboard House Inside

This is what I created for "Our Little Neighborhood" project, Chipboard house #2. The theme of this house was "My Favorite Place," which is hands down my grandma's camp on Lake Algonquin. I go there every summer, and its such a nice retreat from the hustle and bustle of the everyday. I wanted to capture the essence of the comfort and simplicity of this place...wood-sy buttons and photos of the deer my grandfather hunted and mounted spell out the "adirondack camp" vibe.

April's Swap Art

ATCs for Miriam's Bird swap

Altered House Swap #1, "My House" front and back

ATCs for Ginger's April Fairy Tale Swap: Snow White

My April ATC Swap: Button Dolls

This is my first blog post and I'm just learning how it all works and working out the kinks, but I look foward to posting my thoughts and my artwork to share with others. I thought I would begin with some of my most recent creations. Above are the Bird ATCs, Button Doll ATCs, Snow White ATCs, and Altered House that I created for the InMyVintageRoom Yahoo Group April swaps. I am lucky enough to be the moderator of the group and receive wonderful artwork in the mail every month from a dozen or so talented artists. We have members from Washington, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Texas, and New York and we are always looking for new artists to share our passion and exhange art with through the mail. It is so much fun, and I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to connect with people through such a fun medium.
